New Campaign Helping Patients, Researchers

Close the gap to conquer cancer

Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation is launching Close the Gap to Conquer Cancer, a campaign in response to the growing burdens facing patients with cancer, oncologists, and cancer researchers. Close the Gap to Conquer Cancer calls on everyone committed to conquering cancer to make a gift to help fund vital programs, including those providing patient resources and supporting global cancer research.

Like many non-profits, Conquer Cancer has been impacted by the economic toll caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Close the Gap to Conquer Cancer aims to raise $600,000 for the Conquer Cancer Annual Fund to help maintain patient resources, programs, and long-term research for every type of cancer.

As noted in a recent Science Advances editorial: “Reduced foundation funding has a disproportionately severe impact on trainees and early career scientists and will reduce the ability of the best and brightest to take scientific risks and broaden their inquiries at a pivotal stage in their careers...We risk losing the best and brightest in the cancer field at a time when there has never been greater capacity for translating scientific insights to benefit for cancer patients.”

To Close the Gap to Conquer Cancer, ;donate to the Conquer Cancer Annual Fund by December 31.
