Grants & Awards
Our grants and awards support clinical and translational cancer research done by gifted physician-scientists at every stage of their careers, from the best and brightest among young investigators to senior researchers providing mentorship opportunities for the next generation of cancer researchers.
Young Investigator Award (YIA)
Providing funding to promising investigators to encourage and promote quality research in clinical oncology. The purpose of this grant is to fund physicians during the transition from a fellowship program to a faculty appointment. This is a mentored award, and the research project is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. Applications in all areas of cancer research are accepted from U.S. and international applicants.
Career Development Award (CDA)
Providing research funding to clinical investigators, who have received their initial faculty appointment, as they work to establish an independent clinical cancer research program. This is a mentored award, and the research project is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. The research must have a patient-oriented focus, including a clinical research study and/or translational research involving human subjects. Proposals with a predominant focus on in vitro or animal studies (even if clinically relevant) are not allowed. Applications in all areas of cancer research are accepted from U.S. and international applicants.
Merit Awards
Based on funding availability, a limited number of Merit Awards will be awarded to eligible trainees and students whose research is addressed in high-quality abstracts submitted to an ASCO Meeting and recognized for its scientific merit.
Merit Award recipients are honored with the opportunity to present their abstract at the Meeting, receive $1,000 in monetary support, complimentary registration for the Meeting, and access to reserved Meeting hotel reservation blocks. Merit Award candidates must apply for this award at the time of abstract submission.
